Bitcoin Self-Custody. We hold your hand, not your keys.

A private RootSeed consultation

What We Do

We help you secure Bitcoin for the long term using cold-wallet setups. From device selection to backup design and recovery planning, we guide you through every practical step. Our service is built for long-term holders who want a custody solution they can understand, verify, and recover independently - without trusting third parties.

What We Don’t Do

We do not assess, recommend, or provide custody guidance for alternative digital assets.

Why It Matters

Bitcoin self-custody is unforgiving. Small mistakes can lie dormant for years before causing irreversible loss. So far, an estimated 3.7 million Bitcoin have been lost.

The Bitcoin network itself has never been hacked. Losses stem entirely from management failures - compromised software, lost keys, or operational mistakes. That's why professional guidance matter. Together, we check the tricky parts and question assumptions so that you can remain confident and independent.

The “Not-So-Secret” Transaction Secret August 2013

To send Bitcoin securely, a wallet must generate a unique, unpredictable secret code (called a k-value) for every transaction. A bug in Android’s “SecureRandom” system caused some wallets to reuse these codes or generate predictable ones. By comparing just two affected transactions, attackers could calculate a user’s private key and steal all the funds. Users had to update their apps immediately and move their money to new, secure addresses.

“Fake Login” Trick December 2023

Hackers stole more than $600,000 by compromising the Ledger Connect Kit used by popular cryptocurrency websites. Visitors saw familiar “Connect” or “Sign In” prompts, but the request had been swapped. Clicking the button signed a hidden permission that sent funds to the attackers.

Weak Entropy July 2026

What Coinkite clients thought was a reliable setup turned out to have a fatal flaw. A five-year-old coding error left thousands of wallet seeds vulnerable, resulting in the loss of over 1,800 BTC in just days. Adding at least 100 private dice rolls during setup would have supplied sufficient entropy to prevent this, but most affected clients did not perform this critical step. Attackers did not need to breach the hardware; they simply calculated the weak keys.

When Copy-Paste Betrays You July 2026

Attackers secretly altered code running across websites that used the Adform advertising platform. The malicious code acted like an invisible pickpocket: when someone copied a cryptocurrency address, it replaced it with the attacker’s address. It would even replace the correct address again if the user retried. Because the attack happened inside the website, antivirus software could not detect it. Only checking the destination on the physical hardware-wallet screen could reveal the swap before funds were sent.

How We Work

We work privately and at your pace. No pressure, no one-size-fits-all solutions. We analyse the risks before you act, and guide you through building custody setups you fully understand. We prioritize a step-by-step approach over automated black boxes. By walking through every step together, we ensure you understand the why behind every strategy, not just the how.

Levels of Support

Choose the level of support that matches your situation - from a simple first setup to advanced security planning or ongoing threat updates. We guide you at your own pace, giving you time to make informed decisions while remaining fully in control of your Bitcoin.

Four Guided Module Sessions

  1. Hardware Wallet Selection and Preparation Compare suitable devices, buy your chosen wallet from a trusted source, and prepare it safely.
  2. Secure Seed Generation and Wallet Verification Generate a high-entropy seed with dice, verify your device and receiving addresses, and confirm that the wallet works using a test-only setup.
  3. Resilient Backup Strategies Create durable backups and practise the recovery process before any funds are at risk.
  4. Everyday Wallet Use and Transactions Practise sending and receiving Bitcoin while checking addresses, fees, approvals, and transaction status.

You complete every sensitive step privately and at your own pace. Your entropy, seed phrase, and private keys are never shared with us.

Personal Bitcoin Security Architecture

For larger holdings, families, or more demanding security needs. We examine how theft, loss, device failure, or mistakes could affect you, then design practical safeguards. This can include multi-signature custody, separated backups, recovery planning, and inheritance considerations.

Four Advanced Security Modules

  1. Personal Threat Model and Risk Assessment Map the physical, digital, and operational risks that apply to your circumstances, then decide which safeguards are genuinely useful.
  2. Multisignature Design and Hardware Diversity Understand how multisignature removes single points of failure and when using different hardware signers may strengthen a setup.
  3. Distributed Key and Backup Strategy Plan how signers and backups can be separated across secure locations without exposing the complete setup in one place.
  4. Recovery, Inheritance, and Emergency Access Create and test procedures for device loss, incapacity, or inheritance while keeping private information protected.

The modules are adapted to your threat model and completed at your own pace, with each safeguard reviewed before it becomes part of your live setup.
